The Contrary

Insight

I hear people say all the time that what they desire isn't where they are. They think love is in Paris, and inspiration's in Rome... that only a Patagonian vista can satisfy them. They wish to go far and wide, to see this and that... because they think the limiting factor in their growth is experience. I even overheard one young man compare himself to a sapling languishing in an arid shade that would grow if he just had enough water and sunlight. But didn't Isaac Newton find gravity in an apple? Didn't the Buddha find enlightenment in his breath? And Van Gogh... didn't he find the beauty of The Starry Night in the view from his asylum window of quaint Saint-Rémy-de-Provence?
